After discovering the SCART-RGB adapter which will also do component on Friday, I stumble across the same adapter that Dick Smith were offering from Jaycar for about half the price. On my way to get meat for the barbeque on the Saturday I stopped off at Jaycar and picked up one.
I'm happy to say it worked a treat, and I now have both the DVD player and the DVB STB running through the receiver with Component Switching. (although I am embarassed to say that they are hooked up with dodgy a/v leads that come with hifi equipment because that's all I had at hand and it will be a while before I get some IXOS component leads)
