Cyc'd European Tour 2014 - the Swiss prelude

Today I landed in Geneva, my first stop on my journey to Lyon for the Cyc'd European tour largely thanks to the extremely generous hospitality of an old friend. This hospitality, however, came with some catches... In the form of more riding.

RJB had devised an engenous cure for my possible jet lag and that was a scenic tour around Geneva and into neighbouring France a mere 3 hours after I set foot in the country.

I have to say if today is just a taste of what the next two weeks have to offer it will be hard to wipe the smile off my face for some time. The scenery is just breathtaking. Coming from Australia is easy to forget the scale of the mountains over here. Around every other corner a snow capped Mount Blanc would would appear dwarfing is closer neighbours which is on a scale that is hard to compare in Australian scenery.

The roads as well are fantastic. Little country road winding their way in and out of towns dotted along the countryside. The few times that we passed through traffic they were nothing but amazingly friendly and patient. It was hard to believe how quickly the kilometres just seems to pass by, in what seemed only a matter of minutes we'd clocked 50km and had found a local French restaurant to grab a bite.

I'm sure by the end of this week I'm going to run out of superlatives.... I'm not sure what I'm going to do for posts after that :)
