9th place on Sortie Divonne (Rd Point) - Vesancy and 1 more

The scenery on the way out was just picture postcard stuff. Rolling country side out to hills that just towered into the sky.
Our first stop was Gex for a quick pastry before attacking the climb, an awkward broken French conversation revealed that the place had be operating for over 100 years.

It's hard to describe the climb as anything but... Long. So much longer than anything that we are used to in Queensland. At over 1300m it's much higher than I've ever been on a bike before. Last night After possible one (or two) red wines too many, it was decided that I had a chance to get myself into the top 10 in strava for the climb. So with that in the back of my head I hit the start of the climb hard. Sadly about a quarter of the way into it I wanted it to be over. Still (at a much slower pace) I pressed on (and on and on) and made it to the top.

From here the real fun began the descent.... Just like the climbs, these go on and on. Long straights breath taking hairpins as the open up over the valleys below.
From there we parted ways with some of the party at Saint Cergue and RJB, flynndog and I continued on to make it a grand frondo for the day.

More fantastic descending and gorgeous country roads continued until we found outselves in the lakeside town of Nyon for a spot of lunch.

This is just a taste of what we have lined up for the rest of the Tour, but I'm already hooked.
