Oooh.... a Storm!!!

It's just by chance that I'm up for one of the only storms I've seen all summer. It's not a terribly big one from the radar and lightning tracker images but the light show out of my window as I'm working away. It was a nice end to the day (I like storms) considering how terrible it's been. I've already clocked about 26 hours of work this week and it Monday!
Wow the lightning strikes are getting closer.
Work wise it's just been an insane and painful day... Unfortunately I don't think it's going to get any better by the end of the week... At least I have the soothing sound of the water running down the storm pipes running through our unit.

The News is...

We have the NEWS CHANNEL!!!

After a great session of Warioware: Smooth moves tonight with Tom and Susan, I took a quick browse of the Wii Shopping Channel to see the new games that were out (Mario Kart 64 if anyone's interested) and low and behold there was an update. The update said it was for a parental controls update but there it was in all it's glory the News Channel!

It's fantastic... there isn't a lot of Australian content but there is regional and national. The most outstanding feature has to be the Slide show news. It simply scrolls through all the headlines highlighting the spot on the Globe where the news article came from.

New HHD Still No mac :(

Last night I finally got around to "Fixing" the mac. I bought a new drive for the MAC and fitted it last night... All in all a pretty easy job, the only problem is that the drive still doesn't appear. So by the look of it I have a dead logic board in the mac. Which is both a more expensive and complicated than a simple hhd replacement. So it might be back to the shop for the poor little mac or it may be time for the iMac to become a 24" Intel version. Time will tell I guess.
In other news I haven't been blogging much because of the stupid amount of work I've had to do. Really having two major customers going live a day apart was never a good idea.. I guess that's why organisations have project managers....
I thought about blogging last night after I got home but just looking at a PC made me stressed so I gave it a miss.
I'm only online at the moment to win some stuff my Parent's found on ebay so I had to track down an internet Kiosk at Carindale Shopping centre... After this bidding is done I think I might track down a copy of Warioware...
Have a Great Australia Day! I think it might be beer and cricket after that!

BDO the aftermath

So it's all over for another year... it was an awesome day (even if it made today a little difficult to get through)

Our line up :-
Afra & the Incredible Beatbox Band
Sick Puppies
Spazzys
The Butterfly Effect
Evermore
DJ Aniki
Lily Allen
My Chemical Romance
Eskimo Joe
John Butler Trio
The Killers
Jet
Muse

Bob Evans
Tool

The highlights for me were definitely Muse, The Killers, My Chemical Romance, Evermore, DJ Aniki and Lily Allen. Muse were there the whole reason and they certainly didn't disappoint. Their show was no nonsense just straight into the tracks and they just flowed from track to track. True to form they had an awesome stage setup! I only wish they had a longer set.

I was a bit disappointed with Eskimo Joe and Jet, I've seen them before and they've had a much performances. I was really surprised by Evermore and John Butler Trio, they really got the mosh going especially after something like Butterfly effect.

Other ups... hiding from the sun for most of the day, Not loosing anything, Watching a drug bust, watching a youtube video of a fat guy with his shirt off robot dancing to John butler trio unfold before our eyes...

Other lows.... Getting sunburn horribly on my arm :( missing just a patch with my sunscreen.
Not having enough video space to get the guy dancing on youtube.

A great day... (and like the last concert I've listened to the Muse CD first thing today :)

We're at big day out sunscreened up and ready to go! We got the bus a bit early so on acts have started! So i've scored out a seat in front of the main stages in the shade... I feel old already :)

A week of long days and faulty keys...

Progress bars have been my bane this week. The current site where I'm working has a lot of data to move around and every time you need to restore or migrate a system from one environment to another you can pretty much write off half a day. On top of that it's getting to the pointy end for this and another site (who are both going live in the same week) so there have been an endless number of other meetings that have impacted on my time... So today (as with the rest of the week) I'm still onsite working away... (I'm waiting for the last 50,000 records to import so i thought I'd fill in the time hence the post) This will make it 3/3 this week in locking up my customer site... The only problem with that is once I'm out I don't have access to get back in so I'm limited on how late I stay by my first bathroom break...

In other frustrations of the week my most used 'Shift' key (the right one) is playing up. I'm not sure if it's software or hardware related... but it's really starting to annoy me. I (this 'I' took 5 goes to get capital) might have to go and steal a USB keyboard from someone's desk...

Well enough blogging it's back to work...

Mmmm... Fresh Meat!!!

Blue... (the official name for the fighting fish) had his first (and second) non processed meal since he came to his new home. A mosquito made the mistake of landing on the top of the bowl last night and Blue made very very short work of it. After that and also eating a tiny fly after already being fed his dinner we decided not to feed him this morning. He's been working hard on his bubble nest so hopefully he's happy. There was a theory that he had killed the snails over the weekend but I think they are just sick of being hassled and have taken to moving around the tank at night when Blue is a little less active.

Purely for aesthetics we're looking for another 2 plants to fill out the tank that I'll hopefully be able to pick some up on my way home so there might be more photo updates tonight.

Oh God, first day back.

Morning All,

I'm back at work... At least the holidays were nice while they lasted....

I've been booked for an 8:30 onsite at a customer, would have been nice to know a bit early, as I've only just finished checking all the urgent emails...  oh well... guess it straight back to the grindstone.

The Fish Tank - Day 5

So we've been on holidays for a few days and I wasn't sure how the new fish bowl would go but turns out it all went swimmingly :)

The Snails seem to be happy in their new home and have a done a great job of cleaning the inside of the tank for me. I tried to get the fish today but my local shop was out of fighting fish so the snails will have to battle on alone for a little longer.

Back from Holidays!!!

We made it back from holidays!!! It was a great trip away. Made it to the beach at least one ever day despite the nasty surf conditions. One of main reason for the trip was to get back into the surf after last years mishap at Tugan in the calmer waters of Noosa beach. Turns out there were some big swells off the coast. Still was heaps of fun to get back in the water.

On the way up we stopped at Underwater World to check out some of the fish and the Giant Squid they've got on display... Got some nice shots of the fish etc.

The trip home wasn't quite as much fun as we would have hoped... The red car decided it didn't need a bolt any more and decided to drop it on the sunshine motorway at about 100km/h yesterday... Didn't seem to do any major damage on a inspection but today shortly after we'd left we lost the speedo. So I spent the trip home without any idea how fast I was going... Anyway home now just got to have it fixed now.

The Fish Tank - Day 1

For Christmas Ness got me an awesome Wall mounting fish tank from Go-Home.

Yesterday, I mounted it on the wall and filled it with water as a test for the mounting..

Today I went and got Ness and My first official Pets! A pair of mystery snails. I got gravel and a plant for the tank and treated the water ready for a fighting fish in the near future... I had a couple of goes getting the gravel(Here are some photos)

The ultimate accessory...

The Wii has become an essential item when ever I go to someone's place. I think the key in gauging it's success is that even when it's getting late in the evening the cries of "Just one more game" are always heard. Parent's are always the most resistant but the first to ask for one more game after they get the Wiimote in their hands. Tom goes down as the most easily addicted though, putting in a Mammoth 6 hour Boxing session despite being at my place for some Xbox time.

The tiny little device (I say tiny because it's dwarfed by every other piece of equipment in my entertainment unit, even my power board in bigger) is now the most used bit of gear I have. Here's a few reasons why it's come to the for front :-
  • Browsing the Web
  • Watching You tube vids on my TV (through the wii)
  • Google Reader from the Couch
  • Being able to use the wii as a Media Centre
  • Weather Channel
  • Virtual Console (with arcade sticks)
  • Playing my iTunes Library from the Wii
  • The whole Gamecube back catalog
  • Homebrew community taking the console and running with it....
All that and I haven't even started on Wii sports!

Annual DVD audit complete

It's usually over the Christmas break I finally get time to sit in front of the DVD library and take stock.

I've done pretty well this year in terms of loans, there are only about 16 titles not on the shelves, some of them have been missing for a while (I lost Sneakers about 5 years ago). Also got a chance to put all the new ones I'd managed to miss. The total retail value was a bit of a worry at the end though...

First post of the New Year!

Happy New Year Everyone!
I'm quite astonished how quiet it is as I sit out on the balcony early in the morning of the new year. I've been here about 30 mins and the first car has just gone past. Normally I wouldn't be up this early (on any day let alone the new year) but a combination of Asthma and allergies forced me from my slumber so I'm taking in the fresh air (and some breakfast cherries) to break in the new year. Considering the amount of sleep, I'm surprisingly awake and with a lack of blogging over the Festive season I thought I'd start the year off in the right way (at least where th blog is concerned). With all the parties and outings there just hasn't been the motivation to sit down and post.

All the best for 2007!
