I've been riding the new malvern star single speed convert as my commuter since I got it but I've made a few changes (mainly to reduce the death risk). New brakes and some deep 44mm rims with a decent breaking surface (still purple though to match the rest of the bike) were the first upgrades. It wasn't long though and the tyres were shown the door. A spate of flats and no quick release wheels meant it was time for a tyre with some decent puncture protection.
